The Cardio and Vascular of Cardiovascular Health

Cardiovascular health is how well your heart delivers blood to your body. This involves how hard your heart (cardio) is working and how easily your blood vessels (vascular) deliver blood.

Your heart works best when it has the capacity to meet demands such as moving from sitting to walking. Your blood vessels work best when they can change shape (being elastic) enough to meet an increase in blood flow.

Stiffer vessels might be an indication of cardiovascular disease.

Stiffer blood vessels apply more backpressure on the heart, making it work harder. Elastic blood vessels help get more blood to the body, helping the heart pump more efficiently.

Efficient blood flow helps promote immune-system response and provides more energy to muscles.
