The PACE Assessment Tests

Each test in the PACE assessment is simple and non-invasive. Along with our risk-assessment questionnaire, these tests will take about 20 minutes.

Bilateral Blood Pressure

Using a common blood pressure cuff, we simply measure your blood pressure on both your left and right arm.

Ankle/Arm Index

Again, with a common blood pressure cuff, we take your blood pressure on each side of your body, this time measuring pressure at both your arms and ankles.

These tests disclose differences in your blood pressure between your right and left sides, and let us create a clearer picture of how blood is delivered around your body.

IMT Carotid Ultrasound

The ultrasound test involves placing a monitoring device (a small, metal disk) over the artery on your neck.

A picture of your artery is created, and measurements of the thickness of your artery are made. Blood-vessel wall thickness is a predictor of heart function and the possibility of stroke.

SphygmoCor Pulsewave Assessment

This test uses measurements of your blood pressure and measurements take by a pressure probe on your wrist.

Two measurements allow us to calculate your core blood pressure. Core blood pressure helps determine how much, if any, backpressure is exerted on your heart. The more backpressure, the harder your heart has to work.

Test results are delivered to both you and your doctor, along with recommendations to help you reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease. Your physician might recommend further testing, such as specific blood work or an echocardiogram.
